Benefits
of Porcelain Veneers

75

Quick, Non-invasive Treatment

Dental veneers can be used to achieve a healthy, beautiful-looking smile, without having to undergo lengthy orthodontic treatment or other more invasive procedures.

Natural-Looking Results

Veneers are incredibly natural-looking and are more color-stable than cosmetic bonding. The porcelain material is highly aesthetic and the dental veneers are very thin, ranging from 0.3mm to 0.5mm in thickness.

Long-Lasting Enhancement

Dental veneers are resilient and have a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years with proper care. The porcelain material is stain-resistant, durable, and long-lasting.

I was sad when Dr. Korus retired, but Dr. Whidden is excellent! He is very knowledgeable and skilled, and quite witty, too. Facility is brand new with the latest in dentistry equipment. Hygienists, assistants and support staff are all very nice, too.

Dr. Whidden and all the staff in the Vernon office have been absolutely amazing. For years, I've been terrified of going to the dentist, and have had several bad experiences. Dr. Whidden made me feel so comfortable, and I couldn't be happier with the level of care my teeth and I have received! :) Thanks so much!!

What
Are Veneers?

A veneer is a thin restoration that completely covers the front surface of a tooth to mask dental flaws. Laboratory technicians fabricate each veneer out of high-quality dental porcelain to precisely fit the tooth and improve the appearance of the entire smile. Veneers are a cosmetic solution and are not intended for restorative purposes. For this reason, they are only used on the anterior teeth, or those that are most visible when a patient smiles.

How This Solution Works

Veneers fit onto the front surfaces of teeth to achieve a symmetrical appearance.

So how do I know if this procedure is right for me?

Am I a Candidate
for Veneers?

We may recommend this solution if:

You Are in Good Dental Health

To be considered a good candidate for any cosmetic dentistry treatment, you should be free of dental problems such as cavities, root canal infection, and gum disease. If you have any of these dental issues, they will first need to be addressed with restorative dentistry treatment.

You Have Sufficient Enamel

Before veneers are placed, a small amount of tooth enamel is removed. This prevents the veneers from looking bulky and keeps the final results flush with surrounding teeth. Patients must have a healthy amount of enamel present to allow for this step of the procedure.

You Are Comfortable with Permanent Dental Alteration

Because a small amount of tooth enamel is removed, this treatment is permanent. Patients should understand that if their veneers become damaged or reach the end of their lifespan, they will need to be replaced.

Layer 1

You Don't Grind and Clench

Chronic grinding, a condition known as bruxism, puts excess pressure on veneers. This can increase the risk of the veneers becoming damaged or dislodged prematurely.

Your Misalignment Issues Are Minor

Veneers can address small misalignment issues, but if you have severely crooked teeth, orthodontic treatment may be a better solution for your needs.

The Treatment Process

Consultation

The veneer process begins with a consultation to assess your goals and expectations. We take a total approach to care, which includes listening to your concerns, discussing your options, and helping you reach your optimal dental goals.

Photos and Impressions

If it is determined that you are a good candidate, our team will take photographs and impressions so that we can fabricate a diagnostic mock-up of your dental veneers in wax.

Designing Your Veneers

You will then be invited back to the office to view the wax model and discuss any changes that you may want to make. By working together, dentists and patients can design dental veneers that look natural and complement the individual's facial features.

Fabrication of Your Veneers

Using this model, your custom porcelain veneers will be made by our award-winning lab to match the size, shape, color, and translucency of your natural teeth.

Temporary Veneers

While your dental veneers are being fabricated, you will wear temporary veneers. These temporaries will serve as placeholders until your permanent porcelain veneers arrive back at our Vernon or Coventry offices approximately four to six weeks later.

Placing the Custom Veneers

Your final visit will allow us to place the dental veneers and check that the color, shape, size, and overall look meets your cosmetic goals. Once each of these aspects is evaluated, we will bond the porcelain veneers to your teeth. Our doctors will carefully secure them into place using a strong bonding cement.
